Bitcoin Cash is a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. It's a permissionless, decentralized cryptocurrency that requires no trusted third parties and no central bank. Bitcoin Cash was created as a result of a hard fork of the Bitcoin blockchain on August 1st, 2017, at block 478558. Anyone who held bitcoin at the time of the fork became an owner of an identical crypto amount of bitcoin cash.
Bitcoin Cash is represented by the BCH ticker symbol and is considered by its supporters to be the legitimate continuation of the Bitcoin project as peer-to-peer digital cash.
